Casa 17 Hotel: A self-contained oasis in the heart of Bangkok Noi.

Standing out from other Bangkok hotels as the best place to stay for a simple and grand urban oasis away from the bustling city is Casa 17. Our top pick for a luxury hotel in a central location of Bangkok has to go to Casa 17, a hotel where the motto is ‘tu casa es su casa’ and the experience matches perfectly with this.

The newly finished hotel is equipped with everything any kind of traveller could need. The on-site restaurant, the relaxed pool and pampering room plus fitness suite are quite literally everything you could wish for in a city hotel. And here’s why.

We recommend booking directly via the Casa 17 Hotel website for the best rates:

Location

Casa 17 is located in a great nook of Bangkok and is surrounded by traditional Bangkok homes, markets and local street food. A step outside will show you the real Thai experience here in Bangkok.

The hotel is a perfect launching pad for your Bangkok adventure and the Temple of Dawn and Wang Lang Market are only a stone throw away. It is also only a quick drive into the main busy areas of Khao San Road and perfectly central to other attractions such as Wat Pha – The Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

It is hard to miss the hotel from the street as the blue exterior stands out against the usual Bangkok greys and beiges. The building itself is split into Building 1 and Building 2 of which both are connected by a suspended sky bridge on Level 5.

The views from the bridge or the rooms are of an amazing city filled with Skyscrapers, gold from the tops of Temple Mounts, the Chao Phraya River and small corrugated iron roofs.

Rooms

The rooms exude luxury and comfort. There is no simpler way to put it. It really feels like the hotel has taken into consideration every need that the guest might have and this immediately made us feel at home and comfortable. It truly is an Urban Oasis just as they set out to create.

Casa 17 offers a range of rooms to suit all types of travellers needs such as Standard Rooms, The Deluxe Large Living Room, The Home Suite Home and The Family Loft. They are all decorated with a modern yet comforting touch with simple interiors and contemporary themes. The colours are comforting and homely and a great safe place to unwind in.

The beds are the highlight for us, however, as they really are the comfiest we have ever experienced. You can immediately identify that no cost has been spared when it comes to a good night’s sleep for the guests.

Each room includes, but is not limited to, all basic amenities (plus many more elaborate ones) such as:

  1. Complimentary Wi-Fi – which we can confirm was fast and great for if you are working like us
  2. Samsung flat-screen TV – For relaxing in bed or on the plush sofa
  3. Fully stocked Mini Bar plus Coffee or Tea Making Facilities plus Complimentary Bottled water which you can request more of
  4. 14 Inch Laptop-Size Personal Safe – Perfect to store your things throughout the day whilst exploring Bangkok
  5. Bathroom Amenities – But not just the small cheap bottles that you regularly get, there was a nice smelling luxurious array of soaps which is hard to come by in most hotels
  6. Hair Dryer – Again much better than the standard hotel offering that barely dries anything
  7. Bathrobe and Slippers – To help you feel like the King you are

These little touches did not go unnoticed and we were very grateful as guests to know that the hotel was ready to accommodate any of our wants and needs.

You can also request from reception a number of extras if you need any, including: Yoga Mat, Ironing board, a men’s razor or extra bed for children.

Pool:

Next we venture outside of the rooms and to the main attraction of Casa 17; the pool. The shape is intriguing but most importantly inviting and taking a dip is mandatory if you stay at this hotel. The pool is a blue maker of an oasis vibe and ultimate relaxation station.

The beds and loungers are great for anyone who prefers to bathe the days away and the accompanying bar is great for accompaniments.

Bubble Poolside Bar:

The Pool bar set with its plush outdoor furniture set with seats and tables are a cool spot for spending morning, afternoons and early evenings. A poolside bite would go down well and a pre-dinner evening cocktail even better! We highly recommend the Lemon Thai Tea as a citrusy burst of freshness and fruitiness.

Tarn and Toey (Restaurant):

We were lucky enough to enjoy a complimentary breakfast included with the room and were not disappointed when we dined at Tarn and Toey. We were delighted by the laidback and sophisticated setting. On top of this the servers are stellar and polite people, we were made to feel like friends rather than guests and loved chatting to the team during our stay. Experiences like this leave an impression and it is so true that a smile goes a long way when you are far away from family and friends.

The Restaurant takes its name from popular Thai foods ‘Tarn’ for toddy palm and ‘Toey’  for pandan. And with a name like this, the place has to serve authentic Thai food and we can confirm that Tarn and Toey indeed does this. A meal in this restaurant will deliver fresh and simple Thai cuisine plus international favourites.

The Fitness Studio:

After a night filled with good food and good memories there is nothing better than a physical morning spent in the on-site gym. The room has a good range of fitness essentials and a quick workout is a great way to work off all the Thai food you have surely consumed.

The Lamoon Bar:

Adjacent to the gym is a calming room called the Lamoon Bar which is set ready for a massage if one should wish. Here you could enjoy a blissful back massage or refreshing foot scrub; the perfect reward for a fast day filled with Bangkok activities.

Common Room:

The Common Room is a perfect place to relax away from the Bangkok heat and chaos in an accommodating space. The sofas are perfect for sitting and working on personal studies or the table could be used for productive meetings.

Social Study:

Alternatively if you are in need of any more space then the social study is a room fit to your needs. The ample room and clean look are great for business meetings which are often as Bangkok is a business centre connecting all of Asia.

Upper 7:

The Upper 7 is a rooftop viewing area that boasts near panoramic views of the ever-impressive Bangkok skyline. Reached by climbing the stairs all the way to floor seven of the right building (Building 1) Often overlooked when you live just on the ground of the city is the busy yet tranquil sight of the building tops.

Our Experience

We had the delight of staying at Casa 17 in March and left feeling refreshed, revitalised and rejuvenated.

We stayed in the Junior Suite which was a spacious room and more than enough for two backpackers like ourselves, we are more used to dorm beds than this type of luxury. The suite consisted of a living room with a comfortable sofa and big TV which we made the most of and turned into our working space. There was also a table and chairs where we enjoyed a coffee that we made ourselves in the kitchen. The kitchen was equipped for making small meals so perfect for anyone looking to save a little money whilst travelling. Our favourite part was the bed as you really could feel the expense that has gone into it. It took less than a minute we would guess between our heads hitting the pillows and actually falling asleep and we did not wake until morning.

In the morning we started our day with a quick dip in the pool which immediately woke us up and gave us energy for the day ahead. This was followed by a delightful shower in the large bathroom and quick change in time for breakfast at the restaurant; Tarn and Toey. We chose our breakfast dishes, which was hard as we wanted to eat all of it. Then the servers started bringing out plate after plate and cups and cups of delicious food and drinks. Between us we managed to overflow the table with delicious breakfast treats and the top highlight for us was a real hashbrown on Aidan’s full English Breakfast. Feeling positively stuffed it was time for us to start exploring Bangkok and we could not have had a better start to the day.

We felt so lucky to stay at the hotel and were so impressed with all of its features and perks. It surprised us to find out that the hotel had only just been opened as it felt like a business that had been running for years. The staff were more than accommodating and the pool was perfect for cooling off. We would like to say thanks for having us.

Conclusion

We take a lot of time when deciding our favourite picks whether it be restaurants, activities or hotels. But we can say without a shadow of doubt that Casa 17 is our top recommendation for a luxury hotel in Bangkok. The hotel has beautiful rooms, a refreshing pool, a relaxed common area and amazing food, what more could you want?
