Picture of Jaimee and Aidan

Here is our story from the beginning!

One great thing about travelling is meeting so many new people all with different stories to tell. We’ve made some lifelong friends and are lucky enough to have people around the world that we can count on. We absolutely love finding out about people’s lives and how they got to where they are now, so in this light we thought it would be great to share our story so far.

2019

We met for the first time in early 2019 and after a few awkward dates we somehow ended up together. At this point in time Aidan was planning an open-ended trip to Asia with his friends and Jaimee was just living a regular 9-5 kind of life. Aidan was all set to go but getting a girlfriend was definitely not on his list of things he needed to do before leaving England. After being together for only a little while we decided to try to make things work despite the distance and time zones. Aidan left with his friends and flew to Vietnam where he partied, ate Banh mis and drove bikes on the Ha Giang loop.

Thailand

After only 6 weeks Jaimee decided that she didn’t just want to be sent the pictures of these amazing places; she wanted to be in the pictures too! And she booked a month in Thailand while she had some time off over summer from her work.

Going to Thailand was possibly the best experience she could have had at that time and it forever inspired her to break out of her typical life.

After a short 4 weeks in Thailand it was time for Jaimee to return to England and Aidan to carry on his travels, as you can imagine this was a hard goodbye to say to each other. Neither of us knew when or where we would see each other again.

Whilst back in England Jaimee took 3 months to work as hard as she could and save as much money as possible in order to just get back to Asia and explore even more countries. Jaimee saved for months and in December of 2019 and she flew back to meet Aidan in Vietnam.

2020

The year 2020 started in Tokyo’s airport where we landed and spent an amazing 8 days followed by 7 chilled out weeks in Bali. It became clear that our savings were running out and it was time to head back to England with the plan to work hard and then fly out again. In typical Jaimee and Aidan fashion this did not happen. Just after we landed in February Covid-19 hit and our quick trip back to England ended up lasting over 2 years.

In this time we made it our focus to find ways of making money online in order to travel again as soon as borders opened. We found quite a few ways and worked hard to create reliable incomes online. If you would like to find out what we do you can see here.

2021

2021 seemed like it was going to be more or less just like the previous year and we were getting worried that the dream of travelling again would never be realised. Everything seemed so complicated with borders opening and then closing or lots of Covid tests and quarantines upon arrival in each country. We decided to put our dreams on the sideline and instead we focused on finding ourselves somewhere to live together. We moved out from our parents houses early in the year and were delighted with our newfound freedom. The year carried on and we settled into routines of work both online and offline, this gave us little time to go on any real adventures.

In the late summer we took a big leap and bought an old builders van which we converted into a little camper for ourselves. Exploring the UK was something that we hadn’t really planned on doing but we’re so grateful that we had the chance to find some truly amazing locations. We absolutely loved having the van and travelling in this way, we got to visit so many new places with The Lake District, Snowdonia and The Cotswolds being our favourites. We spent the rest of the year fitting in trips between work and making the most of being in England.

2022

Finally the time came to pack our bags again and head to somewhere new, we decided upon Bali; the beach, food and atmosphere were calling us! And that’s where we catch up with the present: we are currently in Canggu trying to find the balance between work and enjoying the relaxed island vibes plus planning our next destinations.

For us we bought a one way ticket and have no plans of returning to the UK for a while at least and we would love for you to follow our journey. Thank you for listening to our story, we hope you enjoyed this read!
