ibis budget Singapore Imperial

Singapore is a well-known destination on the bucketlist of many travellers and for good reason. From Gardens by the Bay to world class shopping plus award winning Changi airport, it really does have a lot to offer.

This country however, is not for the budget backpacker and all these attractions come with a high price tag. If you want to spend your days exploring Singapore then it is important to have a great base for your nights. We visited Singapore as backpackers and can safely say there is no better budget hotel than ibis budget Singapore Imperial.

*ibis budget is part of the ibis family (best value for money of its category).

Location

ibis budget has many locations around Singapore making it the perfect launching pad for your adventure! Our particular hotel was located in the upcoming area of Lavender and a quick walking distance to the Lavender MRT Station. Onward from this the hotel is only a short walk from Arab Street and Kampong Glam or a 10 minute drive from the Marina Square. This hotel’s location is a major positive and perfect for anyone looking to explore Singapore.

Rooms

The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, what more could you ask for? When we were travelling in Singapore we were walking around all day and sinking into the comfortable and cosy bed was the best reward after all the adventures of the country.

As digital nomads we are always happy to have a room with a desk or table as this saves our spines when trying to work in the room. The table and chair in the room therefore, made us very happy – it’s the little things in life. Not to forget the fast wifi and modern air con.

Of course all the basic hotel amenities were there such as; fully stocked ensuite bathroom and powerful shower, kettle and tea or coffee (perfect for some extra morning energy) plus many other necessities that you need in a hotel room.

There are options for singles, doubles or family rooms varying in degree of luxury but each and every room has what the explorer in you requires.

Pool

Our favourite part about the entire hotel was the outdoor rooftop swimming pool. When our legs were tired from walking around Singapore’s amazing attractions we jumped in the pool and let the water soak away the aches. If exercise is your thing then a few laps would be great but otherwise sitting on the rooftop with a good book in hand will immediately give you the holiday vibes you deserve.

Breakfast

Aside from being located very close to many top quality restaurants and cafes ibis budget Singapore Imperial hotel has an on-site restaurant serving local Asian, Chinese and international dishes. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and we could not help ourselves from going for seconds. It was the best start we needed for a full-on day of trains, skyscrapers and city life that Singapore has to offer.

The dishes rotated daily so each morning had a nice surprise of a few dishes we had not tried before and our favourite was the coffee machine to dose up on much needed caffeine.

Gym

When travelling in Singapore it is almost a must to try the Singaporean dishes which have a great mix of Chinese, Malay and Indian influences but after all this eating it is very important to think about your waistline and plan a little bit of urban sports too.

The partnered gym: Fitness Mode is just a few steps around the corner of the hotel and it offers a great timetable of classes sure to whip you into shape. Whatever activity you prefer, the spacious and modern gym has you covered. We tried a gym session using the free weights and some of the machines and left aching but feeling a lot better than when we entered, therefore we highly recommend checking out the gym and booking onto a class.

Aside from being a great hub the hotel also offers many tours and activities; such as a river cycling tour or kayaking in the Pulau Ubin. These adventures are sure to leave you with amazing memories of Singapore and are easy to book on to in advance or once you arrive at the hotel.

Our Experience

We had the opportunity to stay at ibis budget Singapore Imperial Hotel and were very content and happy with our time. The bed was amazing, the bathroom was perfect, the space was comfortable and the overall experience was great. We really were surprised at how comfortable the rooms were as the prices are very reasonable and you wouldn’t expect the quality of comfort that we received.

It was a perfect landing base for us to explore the city and we took a quick train to a trendy area with a lot of rooftop bars. After a quick bite to eat we were so happy to return to our beds in ibis budget Singapore Imperial Hotel.

Our stay was nothing but comfort and we are very grateful to the kind staff and management for providing this.

ibis budget Singapore Imperial Hotel is not just a great hotel that will look after you during your stay. It is a hotel that also has your health in mind and after some tasty breakfasts you can burn off the calories at the gym or the cool blue rooftop pool.
