The Blooming Gallery

The Blooming Gallery: where happiness blooms like flowers

Tucked away inside a little corner of Eight Thonglor Shopping Centre is a delightful Cafe that is blooming with floral decorations and even more delicate treats for the taste buds. We visited The Blooming Gallery and were blown away by the cute blossoming artwork and theme that ran throughout the cafe.

How To Go There

The Blooming Gallery is a cafe like no other located on the trendy Thonglor road in the Watthana District which is known for its excellent choice in food and nightlife. The Cafe itself is inside the Eight Thonglor Shopping Centre on the Ground Floor and hidden in a small corner next to a spiral staircase. It would be such a shame to miss this cafe amongst the bustle of the shopping centre.

The Cafe is easily reachable by both private taxis and public transport and is located close to many Sky train connections or bus routes such as the Ekkamai 14 bus stop which is a small walk away from the shopping centre.

Drinks

For a Cafe to be worthwhile it has to have good drinks and lucky for us (and you) The Blooming Gallery does just that. The teas are very plentiful and there are some beautiful floral petals that look so interesting and taste even better. When the tea is served they give you a specific egg timer to show you how long to brew the teas before pouring and we thought this was such a great idea and very unique. And although we did not try any as the teas were too tempting, the cafe serves coffees and a whole range of other drinks if tea is not your thing.

Cakes

On to the cakes; which by the way tasted as good as they looked. The cafe has a really wide range of cakes and desserts which all fit into the floral theme so well and many are decorated with edible flowers and even edible gold. Their claim to fame is their Matcha set cheesecake which represents a mossy forest floor and looks unlike any other dessert we have seen before. Their matcha flavour is strong, vegetal and slightly bitter and perfect for any Matcha lover.

Food

Aside from drinks and sweet treats they serve entire meals perfect for lunch or dinner, which we look forward to trying in the future. The ‘Duck Pond’ dish looks very intriguing plus the breakfast menu is filled with some unique takes on breakfast classics.

Decorations

On top of all the before-mentioned reasons as to why this Cafe is so unique and beautiful is the theme that runs throughout the decor of the Cafe. The Cafe is exploding, or maybe blooming, with flowers arranged all over the place; on the walls, in the tables, on the ceiling. And it really transforms you into such a peaceful atmosphere and serves as such a great backdrop for the dainty eats. The best decoration was the elongated flowers that hung over the dining area and were just so pretty!

Our Experience

The first thing to hit us was the smell of freshly ground coffee and fragrant teas plus a warm welcome from the staff who were so professional and kind.

We were soon presented with a medical looking box filled with more teas than we even knew the name of. They were all intriguing but we opted for the Bluebell Vine which turned out to be sweet, earthy and such a vibrant blue colour it felt like drinking a special potion.

If we were not already impressed then we were sure to be pleased when the 4 tier high Afternoon Tea set arrived. It was perfectly fitting in a Cafe inspired by an art gallery as the dainty savoury treats and sweet desserts looked too good to eat.

We started with the savoury plate; it felt too uncivilised to head straight for the desserts, and were delighted with each small bite that was filled with intense flavour. You could instantly tell that the ingredients in each piece were fresh and masterfully prepared. Jaimee’s highlight was the Camembert Cheese which is quite hard to find in Thailand.

Then to dessert: the moment everyone was waiting for! Each sweet treat was botanic, beautiful and most of all delicious. The scones at the bottom were of course freshly made and went down far too easily.

Now to tackle the upper tiers. By now we were a little full but kept pushing through to take dainty bites of even daintier dishes. The macarons were truly perfect and burst with raspberry and citrus flavours from the smooth cream and crackly shells.

After we finished the last few mouthfuls and felt betrayed by our stomachs that we just couldn’t eat anymore it was unfortunately time for us to go. Stepping out back into the shopping centre was like leaving Wonderland and we were very happy to slump into a taxi and let all of that yummy food digest.

Conclusion

The Blooming Gallery is truly a place that has it all; the food, drinks, decor and atmosphere are absolutely 10 out of 10 and we are very happy to have been able to tuck into this unique Cafe. If you are ever in Bangkok and need a recommendation for food then this is at the top of our list, but don’t just take our word – try for yourself.
